The Lower Saxony Institute for Peptide Research (IPF), founded in 1990, is the precursor to the Pharis Group. This initiative of the State of Lower Saxony led to the discovery of numerous new body-own peptides. In 2000 the IPF was privatized to become the parent company Pharis and the subsidiary IPF PharmaCeuticals GmbH. The IPF concept signifies an outstanding and unique feature of the Pharis Group, to use human hemofiltrate (HF) from an unparalleled peptide bank (HF bank) for the identification of body-own substances. 10.000 liters of HF with over 1 million peptides for the isolation of human peptides form the foundation for numerous international patent applications.
In 2000, the initial applied peptide research of the IPF was intensified and the subsidiary Cardiopep Pharma GmbH was founded. This company develops, among other things, Urodilatin, an innovative drug for the intensive medical treatment of acute heart failure.
Today, the Pharis Group focuses on the development of peptides with the potential of medical use as innovative preparations for the therapy of viral infections (VIRO Pharmaceuticals GmbH & Co. KG), acute heart failure (Cardiopep Pharma GmbH) and metabolic diseases (Haemopep Pharma GmbH).
